Our Roots in Pierce County
Founded in 1977, LRI was formed by four Pierce County garbage haulers following a decision to privatize the County's solid waste disposal system. The company acquired the Hidden Valley Landfill and entered into a disposal contract with Pierce County that same year.
Waste Connections
LRI is part of Waste Connections, Inc. (WCI), a publicly traded solid waste services company headquartered in The Woodlands, TX. With a focus on customer service and operational efficiency, WCI has expanded to serve secondary markets throughout the United States and Canada.
In 1998, WCI purchased the Murrey Companies and in 2008 purchased the Lemay companies.

Post-Closure Management
Ensuring long term environmental compliance at the Hidden Valley and Purdy Landfills, in partnership with Pierce County and the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.
Transfer Stations & Composting
Operating four County-owned transfer stations and a County-owned compost facility under contract with Pierce County.
City of Tacoma Contract
Providing disposal services to the City of Tacoma under an established service contract.
