Special Waste Accepted At 304th Landfill

Certain non-traditional waste materials, such as contaminated soil, industrial sludge, street sweepings, storm drain sediments, and other regulated waste streams, may require a Waste Disposal Authorization (WDA) before disposal. A WDA is issued by the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department to verify that the material meets regulatory requirements and is acceptable for disposal at our facility. If you are unsure whether your material qualifies as Special Waste or requires a WDA, please contact our Customer Service team before transporting the material. We can assist with disposal requirements, documentation, and current pricing. Hazardous or dangerous waste cannot be accepted and must be managed through a permitted hazardous waste facility.

Special waste is any waste material which, because of its physical, chemical or biological characteristics, requires special handling procedures, or poses an unusual threat to the environment, equipment, property, or the public health, welfare and safety.
